Overview…

If an organization has energy, there will be conflict. Whenever humans come together to accomplish tasks or reach decisions, there is potential for conflict. In fact, you and your organization may well decide whether you succeed or fall short just by the way in which you choose to deal with conflict.

This workshop develops a better understanding of conflict and resistance and how to become more comfortable, confident and effective in dealing with them both. Through lecturettes, a questionnaire, and a number of stimulating activities, you will learn what issues are at the core of most disagreements. You will identify your current preferred style for managing conflict, and pick up some proven, "cutting edge" ways to face resistance when it next arises at work - as, sooner rather than later, it surely will.

The Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI) is available for this course.

Participants will have an opportunity in class to apply their learning to an actual conflict or resistance situation they face at work.

Points Regarding This Program…

  • Target audience is middle to executive managers and senior individual contributors who must with courage take stands and confront situations that will create a conflict.
  • Especially appropriate for managers who are required to champion change or address an employee's less-than-satisfactory job performance.
  • This workshop works particularly well as a follow-on from Fulcrum Associates' Managing Through Others leadership program.
